Issues In Your Tissues

A good friend of mine has a saying that, “your issues are in your tissues.” It holds true that when we are stressed, angry, frustrated, or unforgiving that not only our mental health suffers, but so does our physical health. A counselor friend once gave me an analogy of someone trying to hold a helium balloon under water and never allowing it to surface. Once you relax, the balloon will shoot out of your hand and out of the water. Our bodies aren’t meant to hold so much anxiety or stress for long periods of time. Sooner or later that balloon will surface and many times with an illness much worse than a common cold. Learning to calm your mind each day, even for 5 minutes will help reduce stress. Try deep breathing for ten counts when you get uptight. Take just sixty seconds while at your computer and think of the most beautiful place you have visited or would like to visit. Allow yourself to relax so that you don’t have issues in your tissues…

Have a great day today and always!
